Food For Thought
[dokan_vendor_bio1]
The Food for Thought Fund plays a crucial role in ensuring that all GSA students have access to nutritious, affordable meals. Established in 2017 through the generosity of Dottie Hayes, it has doubled in size thanks to generous contributions. This fund has supported the school lunch program for over seven years, providing $44,000 in 2024 alone to help subsidize the cost of healthy meals. These efforts have allowed GSA to deliver delicious, high-quality lunches to students, easing the burden on families while prioritizing food security. With GSA now participating in the National Hot Lunch program, there are new opportunities for this fund to contribute to student food security.
FarmDrop is proud to collaborate with GSA to support the Food for Thought Fund, offering customers a chance to donate directly to the GSA school lunch program when shopping online. Since 2011, FarmDrop has been dedicated to strengthening local food systems, helping farmers thrive while connecting the community to fresh, locally produced foods. In 2024, FarmDrop facilitated $800,000 in sales that went directly back into the local economy, showcasing the power of community-driven food systems.
When you donate to the Food for Thought Fund while FarmDropping, you’re ensuring that every student continues to enjoy wholesome, delicious meals and that local farms remain a vibrant part of our economy. Together, we’re making a difference for our students and our community!
