Peggy Rockefeller Farm

[dokan_vendor_bio1]

Peggy Rockefeller Farm (PRF) is part of the largest remaining contiguous area of historic farmland on Mount Desert Island. The property was donated by the Rockefellers to College of the Atlantic in 2010. The property now serves as a working farm and a site for student education.

The farm encompasses 125 acres of historic farmland with roughly two-thirds of the property covered in second-growth forest or wetland. Acadia National Park administers conservation easements on the entire property. The farm lies within the Northeast Creek Watershed, which is monitored closely by the US Geological Survey for nutrient loading.

PRF focuses on the production of pastured livestock products, raising grass-based beef and lamb, as well as certified organic pastured poultry.  Currently, the farm has a flock of Romney and Khatahdin sheep, a small mixed herd of beef cattle predominately Red Devons, heritage breed pigs, 200 year round laying hens and seasonal meat birds.

In addition to selling on farm drop PRF also supplies a variety or retail and wholesale clients on MDI. The farm offers CSA shares to community members seasonally.
