Honeylocust tree

A thornless honeylocust tree in its first year of growth (about 1-1.5 feet tall) grown by us from seed produced in 2019. In a one gallon pot with organic potting soil, the tree is ready to be transplanted into its permanent home. See more description below.

The seed is from one of our mother plants, started by us in 1995, now reaching 30+ feet tall and 11 inches dbh. A fast-growing leguminous tree, honeylocusts are highly adaptable to different environments. Able to grow to over 100 feet tall and live well over a hundred years, the dappled shade provided by its pinnately compound leaves is most welcomed on hot summer days. The Honeylocust tree (Gleditsia triacanthos) is unrelated to the Black Locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia), to which it appears somewhat similar.
