We are sharing the eggs from our 10 chickens with you.
The eggs are from our nine Easter-egger Ameraucana chickens. The shells are shades of green or blue-green, some may also have tiny brown speckles. The color is all-natural and only the shell is green, however, you’ll notice the yolk is a darker yellow or almost orange as compared to the store-bought, mass-produced eggs. There is no rooster, so the eggs are unfertile.
Our girls are allowed to free-range in a safe 800 square-foot chicken run and have frequent liberty into the yard to forage and un-mulch our gardens (a seemingly favorite pastime of theirs).
Teri, seen in the photos, is a Rose-Comb Brown Leghorn and the last of our original three chickens. She is now 10 years old, yet even at her age, she still surprises us with an occasional egg. Her eggs are white, but quite a bit smaller than the others, so we are not offering them in our product. Teri spent years at the bottom of the pecking order, but now she rules the roost.
The eggs are washed and must be kept refrigerated. They will be delivered in a re-used egg carton, which not only helps the environment, but is a cost savings for you.
