Noah and I have been thinking a lot about the carbon footprint of the cooking oils we use. Many are grown so far away, often in drought-stricken places, and from crops that need a lot of water. Think about it. We figured our cooking oil used to be the biggest part of the carbon footprint of our diet. Coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil. You can’t grow those in Maine. We are so happy that we found Black Bear Sunflower oil! Oil from sunflowers that are grown and pressed in Blaine, Maine.
Here’s what Tyler Yost has to say about his oil: “Cold Pressed Sunflower Oil… grown on our family farm in Northern Maine. Great for sautéing, marinades, salad dressings, baking, and bread dipping! All-natural oil with a rich sunflower flavor…. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!”
