Correction:

I was recently quoted in an article about Hannaford buying the local Tradewinds supermarket in Blue Hill and the effects on our local food producers. I want to briefly correct what I was saying. In the article, I talked about trust-based systems for quality assurance. My point was that we can’t take a one-size fit all approach to food safety. While it is important to have food safety measures, the way we ensure food safety for local food being distributed from within 100 miles can be different than how we ensure quality for food from thousands of miles away.
